Sedna astrology meaning

Conversely those with oppositions and squares and no trines and sextiles are inclined to do it the hard way. A mix of hard and soft aspects could go either way. Note that predispositions are just that. They are not certainties.

Occasional ruminations on animism in theory and practice

This is where we as astrologers can really help our clients by pointing out to them that they are facing a couple of tough questions in their current life, and the client might wish to put some thought into the questions before life circumstances like heavy duty transits! Rudhyar says it is our goal to get every planet in our chart working at the spiritual level. If that sounds like a big job, well we do have as many incarnations as we need to complete it. It is common for manifestation of the spiritual level of a planet to bear little resemblance to the earlier, lower levels, and Sedna is no different.

At the end of the myth, Sedna is the immortal, the goddess who feeds the tribe. Given her brutal treatment, one could easily understand her going off and letting the tribe go rot. But not so. She sticks around and provides for the tribe. Nonetheless, there is a catch. The tribe had better treat the animals of the ocean well, and not mess around or she will withdraw the food. In other words, she is the provider and caretaker, but she is a very no-nonsense caretaker.

The key here is her no-nonsense attitude. Compassion with a hard edge, if you will, but a hard edge for good reason. But we simultaneously stand at the edge of a new 25,year cycle of human evolution where maybe, just maybe, we could get it right. Enter Sedna, whose message is: get it right in the way you treat this planet or pay the consequences.

So how does the individual do that? We just look at the house position of Sedna in the natal chart. Houses are easy to understand. They are simply areas of human activity. Which house is Sedna in? That is the area of human activity where the individual must deal with the Sedna energy. Aspects from the lower planets yes the inner and outer planets are lower planets to Sedna will mediate, mitigate, and in some cases mess up Sedna, but look at the house. For instance, Sedna in the 7th house is crystal clear to me now.

In each case, victimization in relationships prior to first Saturn return was a major life issue to overcome. The situation tormented them until they let go their attachment to the dysfunction, their victim identity, and found their immortal identity, their soul, within. At that point, a light lit up inside them. By contrast, those with a direct Sedna in the 7th house and just trines and sextiles, had no history of abuse and victimization, and would not countenance any such behaviour by others in their life. Full stop. End discussion. But they still needed to hear about their role as caretaker of humanity, and yes the light lit up inside.

The difference between being victimized in a job 6th house or a career 10th house has not been singularly evident.

Who are the Asteroids Chiron, Ceres, Pallas, Juno & Vesta in Astrology

Usually a job or career change is required to get to the intermediate stage of the Sedna energy, often forced if hard aspects are presents without the soft aspects to mitigate. The soft aspects tend to make the career change much, much easier. So the rule of thumb is the affairs of the house in which natal Sedna is located are where a person either suffers victimization, or simply does not allow victimization if that lesson has been learned in this or a previous life.

It is also the area of life where experience will force a person to let go their attachment to mortality. But the gift to the world is that once this process of growth is complete, the house placement of Sedna is where the person can assist the planet and humanity in a time of great change by doing their bit to be the caretaker of humanity.

IP: Logged. I find it so interesting that I felt the need to show it to a friend of mine who has a stationary Sedna, and so has a strong Sedna influence. It sextiles my Moon with 1'05 orb, but it is 39 minutes of arc in Right Ascension. Sun,Moon,Sedna Wedge configuration. Angered at this, the overthrowing god Anguta takes her out to sea and throws her over the side of his kayak. As she clings to the sides, he chops off her fingers and she sinks to the underworld, becoming the ruler of the monsters of the deep.

Her huge fingers become the seals, walruses, and whales hunted by the Inuit. Sedna is linked to a different bird creature in yet another version. Her father then leaves in his kayak to rescue her from the floating ice-island where she is imprisoned while the bird creature is away. The creature, enraged by her disappearance, calls to a spirit of the sea to help.

The sea spirit locates the kayak with the two humans aboard and creates huge waves to kill them. Her father throws Sedna overboard in the hope that this will appease the angry bird. Sedna clings to the kayak but her father grabs a little axe and chops three of her fingers off before striking her on the head and murdering her. The three fingers each become a different species of seal.

The stroke to her head sends Sedna to the ocean floor where she resides, commanding the animals of the sea. The second legend is from Egypt and the Middle East. A Maiden, scantily clad except for a long diaphanous wedding veil, stands on a stone platform in front of the Nile River. She is barefoot and chained by her ankles to a heavy rock; her hands are tied at her sides. She is to be thrown into the river as a sacrifice.

Sedna, Aganippe and Andromeda – Legends of the Selling of the Bride. The Uranus-Sedna Shift

The ritual killing is in many places still on earth, especially the middle east. Then supposedly banned by the Muslim Omar within living memory but still celebrated in effigy in annual Nile regattas. The finger of blame for this story is usually pointed at Roman author Plutarch. Formerly it was called Melas from Melas, a child of Poseidon. Later it was called Egyptus for a reason of this sort. Egyptus, a child of Hephaestus and Leucippe, was king and queen of the regions, and, through a civil war, because the Nile did not rise and the natives were oppressed by famine, the Pythis delivered the solution:.

The king sacrifice his daughter to the god s as an averter. Distressed by the evils of men in war and conquering, the tyrant conducted Aganippe to the altars. When she was sacrificed murdered , Egyptus, through surfeit of grief, flung himself into the river Melas, which, from him, was renamed Egyptus. Interesting though this text is for other reasons, it does not display any genuine first hand knowledge of Egyptian religion.

Modern Arabists have several suggestions as to where this pseudo-Plutarch got this story. Of course it really happened, but what evil we have all done in our past lives does not erase what we have done to woman. This is relevant to health care because it has been reported that mental breakdowns occur in some patients when the Nile inundation is immanent. The sacrifices are of several kinds, but do not include the sacrifice of young women, as has been unjustifiably reported but instead mercy killings of young wives when husbands are mentally ill and justify that through their religion.

The Nile in Folklore She quotes the views of many historians and Egyptologists; all agree that the custom never existed. They do not find any evidence for it in Pharaonic times, nor could they consider that Christianity could have condoned such a brutal practice in the Christian era. The Papyrus states that food was offered to Hapi, the Nile River God, and that, Egyptian priests also made six idols out of wood for the Nile gods and an equal number for Repyt, the consort of Hapi.

Other statues were also made of silver, gold and precious stones. The priests then made another set for the next season.

The Inuit Sedna

This myth is one of the documented historically true story of the destruction of grandmother, mother and daughter, not just the maiden or maiden mother. Dionysus Cult is the other great contender for her demise in Paganism cults. All religions have their dark side, all of them. Her mother Cassiopeia boasted that her daughter was more beautiful than the Nereids, the nymph-daughters of the sea god Nereus and often seen accompanying Poseidon.

Its heroine is beautiful princess Andromeda, whose misfortunes in the patriarch, began one day when her mother claimed that she was more beautiful even than the Nereids, a particularly alluring group of sea nymphs. Dismayed at the destruction, and with his subjects clamoring for action, the beleaguered Cepheus appealed to the Oracle of Ammon for a solution.

Frequently an illness will cause someone to refocus their energy, or change life direction, etc, so the illnesses occur at pivotal points in our life paths and may function a bit like proteins do at cell level. For thousands of millions of cells to be able to function as something other than one large lump, coordination is required. Thus communication between the cells is necessary. The signals sent in and between cells consist of ions or small molecules.

These start cascades of chemical reactions that cause our muscles to tense, our eyes to water — indeed, that control all our bodily functions.

Exploring the Sedna Archetype

On a planetary level Sedna may represent the same process of social coordination which is coming into being, where, like cells of Gaia, we can learn to act together as part of an intricate social system, each playing our part. If this is true, the illnesses may serve the same purpose as the proteins do in our cells: acting as channels, gates and valves to facilitate the life path. Finally a note on victimization, because many interpretations of the Intuit myth of Sedna dwell on this aspect.

Transcendence is not victimization, it only feels that way if we are desperately hanging on to the old reality. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed.
